Being sick is no fun!

This has been a very long week in the Circle household. Katelyn has been really sick this week. What began with a runny nose on Sunday night, turned into a runny nose and cough on Monday night, then the fever kicked in on Tuesday and by Wednesday morning I was making my first of several trips to the doctor's office. Katelyn had thrown up right before we left for our appointment so she had several symptoms by the time we got there. After a very thorough check up she was diagnosed with an ear infection and prescribed oral meds. Well after arriving home Katelyn proceeded to throw up 10 more times before the next morning and couldn't hold the meds down and we were off to the doctors again. This time they said the ear infection had spread to her other ear and wanted to also check her for a UTI because she had one when she was 11 weeks old. Because she kept throwing up any liquids  it was taking her too long to pee and so they sent me home with a bag on her privates (keeping it G rated) in hopes she would pee and then I would bring the pee in that afternoon. Well she did pee, but since she moved around so much during her nap it all leaked out of the bag except for a few drops. Back at the doctor's office they had enough to do an initial test, which came back negative, but not enough to send to the lab. They rebagged her and we waited and waited and waited in hopes she would pee again. She didn't! By this time Katelyn was crying and falling asleep on the check up table and the doctor decided to give her a shot of Rocephin since she wasn't keeping the oral meds down. Now this shot is great because you don't have to fight your toddler to take their meds orally, but it has to go in the muscle so the down side is that it really hurts!

After giving Katelyn the shot and monitoring her for 15 minutes we were sent home and told to come back for a check up the next day (friday). By this time it was almost 6 and I had spent most of my day at the doctor's office. We took Katelyn back for her check up on Friday and they could still see puss in her ears so they gave her another shot of Rocephin (you can have up to 3 in the series), sent us home, and told us to come back the next day for a check up. At this point Katelyn had stopped throwing up, but was clearly miserable and spent most of her time sleeping. When she wasn't sleeping she needed to be cuddling with Kyle or I. You know how it is when you don't feel good.

So yesterday, Saturday, we headed to the Newport office, which is open on the weekends for her next check up. They said her right ear had cleared up, but the left still showed some signs of puss and they didn't want it to flare up again so she had to have the 3rd shot in the Rocephin series. This one was the most heartbreaking as she started crying as soon as she saw the nurse and we had to pin her down just to give her the shot. It went into the same leg as the first so by the time we got home, and she woke up from her nap she was clearly in pain. She cried for 30 minutes and wouldn't let either of us touch her. I felt so awful and so helpless. It's one thing when you're sick, but watching your kids get sick breaks your heart.

By dinner time Katelyn was much more herself and she kept saying she was hungry. We fed her hesitantly a little at a time and she was able to keep her dinner down. She woke up this morning dancing, laughing and has even been following me around helping me clean the house. It's so nice to have our little one back!! Praise Jesus for her healing!!

Thank you so much to each one of you who prayed alongside of us for her recovery. God is so good and He is healing her even as I write this.

This was from nap time on Friday. She felt so lousy she didn't want to sleep in her crib or on the couch. Here's where she chose to nap.
